Peapack-Gladstone Borough is a small suburban community located on the northern edge of Somerset County occupying a total area of 5.8 square miles with a population of approximately 2,500. Surrounding towns include Chester and Mendham (Morris County) to the north with Bedminster, Bernardsville and Far Hills to the west, south and east, respectively. Ideally situated for commuters to both Manhattan and Philadelphia, Gladstone is the last stop on the Gladstone Branch of NJ Transit’s Morris & Essex Line, taking many of the borough’s commuters to Hoboken and Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan daily. Gladstone to NY Penn Station takes 88 minutes. Peapack has its own station less than 2 miles before the terminus and takes 85 minutes to get to NYC. By major roads, it is close to I-78 and I-287 and routes 202 and 206. Peapack-Gladstone is 45 miles from Manhattan. Newark-Liberty International Airport, with direct flights throughout the world, is about 35 miles from Peapack-Gladstone. Nearby Morristown Municipal Airport provides corporate and individual private flight services.

Truly one of New Jersey’s best kept secrets, Peapack-Gladstone is set amongst the bucolic rolling hills of northeast Somerset County. Many families are attracted by its Norman Rockwell charm, pristine landscape, and prime location. Peapack-Gladstone is a pedestrian friendly community with many homes within walking distance to town and the train. Actually, there are two train stations as well as two Post Offices with one of each in Gladstone and Peapack respectively. The Essex Hunt Club is a well established fox hunting club with hounds that still hunt and riders who dress the part and maintain the long standing tradition on 100 plus acres of prime hunt country land in Peapack. The club has transformed in recent years and also offers an ice rink used for recreational figure skating and hockey.

Students in grades K–12 attend the schools of the Somerset Hills Regional School District, a regional school district serving students from Bernardsville, Far Hills, and Peapack-Gladstone, along with those from Bedminster Township who attend the district’s high school as part of a sending/receiving relationship.
The three schools in the district are Bedwell Elementary School (K-4, 692 students), Bernardsville Middle School (5-8, 554 students) and Bernards High School (9-12, 759 students), and are all located in Bernardsville. Many of the high school students travel to school using the train that links the towns together.
